The Adventure to Fitness(ATF) Network was created to help schools supplement PE classes, achieve physical education mandates, and share important messages with students when they are most receptive and ready to hear them... while they're having fun!
The ATF Network is a 30-minute interactive program broadcast into the classroom that gets kids engaged and physically active with moderate to vigorous exercise as they participate in a different adventure each week.
Our mission is to reduce childhood obesity and empower kids to make healthy lifestyle choices using music, movement, humor and fun. We target Kindergarten through Grade 5 by supplementing existing PE classes, right from their classroom.
ATF was developed in collaboration with like-minded organizations and professional groups to create an inclusive and engaging exercise program for kids of all abilities.
Each Adventure is an interactive story that takes the entire class to exciting places around the world. Adventures start with a warm up period to get their bodies moving and attention focused. Then we ramp up the activity with different levels of physical exercise depending on what we encounter in the story. Each week there's a different adventure with all kinds of new things to encounter, experience, and learn. Along the way we take time out to learn more about healthy eating and hygiene habits from some friends the kids can really relate to.
During these breaks we also address more serious things like bullying, tobacco free, hygiene habits to fight the flu, and other important subjects. These topics can be customized to talk about specific things your school or district wants to communicate.
At the end of the adventure we take time to cool down and reflect on where we went, what we saw, and what we're sure to remember.
Each adventure aligns with the Coordinated School Health model as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), to reduce risk behaviors, improve health, and support academic achievement. ATF is also consistent with 2005 USDA guidelines and the National Association for Sport & Physical Education's guidelines calling for 60 minutes for age-appropriate physical activity every day for children.
Topics addressed in every adventure include: hydration, nutrition, varying levels of physical exertion, range of motion and movement, good hygiene, and that active bodies make for active minds.
Best of all, everything happens right in the classroom, it's a PE supplement the way schools want it, on your schedule, on your terms. The ATF Network is a whole new experience that puts you in control so you can go on which adventure you want, when you want. All this with no special equipment needed or additional staffing required. And it quickly becomes a favorite weekly activity for the kids as they supplement existing PE classes to meet mandated physical education requirements.
