Lakeland Kids Climb Mount Everest
Youngsters at Wendell Watson Elementary in Lakeland will be climbing Mount Everest next week
without ever leaving their classrooms.
Teachers are using an interactive program to get kids to exercise and learn about fitness while they
go on a climbing adventure via video and the internet.
Through the “Try Running Kids’ Journey to Fitness” program, children follow an adventure guide
named Mr. Marc step‐by‐step through his virtual journeys. Children get to do exciting stuff like run
from avalanches and jump over crevasses with Mr. Marc.
Wendell Watson students will be climbing Mount Everest starting at 7:45 a.m. the week of Feb. 9.
They even get to track their steps and calories burned.
